I’ve always felt like mud masks are the best right before the shower, but I always thought that was due to the ease of cleanup.

  2. The Irish Moor Mud Mask sounds lovely and I have read many positive reviews on it. I do apply mud mask all over my skin but only when I’m experiencing a breakout.

I am a big fan of clay masks as I have very oily skin. And I keep looking for new clays masks to try. Now I need to try all that you have mentioned. :-) Loved reading this post.

  4. You always have the most informative posts Jenny, I always learn something from you! I love your tip of using it before a shower, a great way to rise it off with ease. I have yet to try any of your top recommendations so will definitely keep an eye out for these! xx

As someone with dry skin, I am extra careful with mud masks and honestly those last three tips are so amazing. The only place I use them is on my nose (sometimes chin, when things get hormonal), so from now on I’ll use the shower trick. Grown Alchemist and Boscia are such lovely brands, through and through xx

  6. I have not tried any of these masks, but I have tried my fair share of clay masks too, may favorite ones being very affordable ones from France that I keep going back to.
I wonder how much difference the different types of clay actually make when applied to the skin – I am not sure if the minerals are really absorbed into the skin.
Still a clay mask for my t-zone is a must in the summer months.

Thank you for this post! I’m gonna to check the masks you’ve recommended. Usually I go for DIY clay/mud masks or therapeutic mud but I totally agree – I was told at med school that clay masks should be used with mists or water compress. The only mud mas I can recommend is by bi detox dust because it also contains oats and it’s good for acne-prone skin :)

I love the Kiehls and PTR ones too!

  9. I used to swear by the Kiehl’s Rare Earth Deep Pore Cleansing Masque back in the day when I still got breakouts. No the texture wise isn’t pleasant at all but boy does it work well to deep clean. We’re actually getting the Peter Thomas Roth Irish Moor Mud Mask in a beauty box I just ordered for my husband and I’m excited about it now knowing it’s one of your faves Jenny! My go to these days is the Femmue Gypsy Rose Calming Mask. It’s ultra gentle and actually pretty too :) Will be reviewing it on my blog soon.

I have not tried any of these! I just got one that’s just calcium benzoate and it’s been working really well.
