How do you slip this serum into your skin routine if also using retinol? I have sensitive skin and find it difficult to use retinol so I need a serum to either support the use of the drying effects of retinol or hopefully replace it!!! Is there anything you’ve found better for supporting ‘anti ageing’ of sensitive skin than retinol? Thanks!!

  2. Vanessa says:

Can this be used in the same routine with a vitamin c serum? Or should I keep the vit c in the morning and then this for night time?

  3. Happy Mawhirt says:

Is this safe for pregnant woman

    • Jenny says:

It doesn’t have retinol or salicylic acid which are the two main ingredients to avoid during pregnancy, but you should still check with your doctor.

  4. Maria D. Pangit says:

Hi Jenny! Modesty aside may I know how young are you? (It’s ok if you can’t tell me) :) Just want to know if this will work for me too..Btw, I’m on my 50’s..and may I know the rest of your skin care routine after this serum? Thanks a bunch!

    • Jenny says:

Hi Maria! I’m 29 almost 30, and I typically layer a hydrating/antioxidant serum, a facial oil, and moisturizer after this product. Hope this helps!

      • Maria D. Pangit says:

Thanks Jenny! You’re still too young…And, thanks also for this thorough review of this Klairs Midnight Blue Youth Serum..it really helped me decide whether I’ll give it a try or not :)

  5. This sounds like a great product! After I give birth and finish breast feeding I’m definitely going to be looking into that. I’m scared of using products with ingredients on my skin while growing/feeding my child… just in case! I love that this doesn’t smell like wet rags either LOL.

    • Jenny says:

You brought up a great point, it’s definitely better to keep skincare products simple during pregnancy just to be safe :) Scent is a huge factor for me when it comes to skincare, so an off-putting one can really sway my opinion on a product.

  6. Shivangi says:

I don’t use anything related to anti-aging at the moment! But this post was very informative! :) Thanks for sharing and great pictures!! <3 Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

i’ve seen this floating around internet lately and the first thing that caught my mind was…. yup, the blue colored solution! i was like THIS IS SO COOL I WANNA TRY IT and then i realized a). the price and b). anti-aging? i think it’s too early for me and i probably don’t need it now (even though people say there’s no such thing as too early for using anti aging products, yea? ;P)

at first i was like “ugh anti aging.. even if this is said to be for all skin types, i’m sure this is gonna be too heavy for my combination skin because after all, i live in a humid, tropical country whose weather has zero chill (pun intended because we don’t have seasons here)” but then you said it has a light consistency and you got me interested real bad. uh oh this is dangerous. skincare splurge is the bane of my wallet’s existence! :))

    • Jenny says:

Haha, there’s something super appealing about blue colored products, I totally had the same reaction as well :P It is pricier compared to hydrating serums, but compared to other anti-aging serums I think the price is reasonable, not to mention the texture is fantastic. So it all comes down to whether or not you want to include it in your routine :P I’m in the camp that it’s never too early, but you should do what makes your skin happy! :D

  8. Becky says:

Woah, this is such a thorough review! Definitely much respect to you for having so much knowledge on skincare! The most I got out of it was that it’s watery, lol – I have a few the ordinary serums that are soooo thick that they’ll pill on me when I put my moisturizer on, but I found that mixing them with a facial spray takes care of that. I haven’t heard of this brand before – I’m just stepping outside the sheet mask bubble in Korean skincare and I swear they’re geniuses when it comes to skincare!

    • Jenny says:

Thank you for the sweet comment Becky! I’ve actually been reluctant to try The Ordinary serums for that exact reason, but great tip on mixing them with a facial spray! I’ll have to give them a try now that I know how to apply them!

  9. I have yet to try Klair products… Ive heard a lot of great reviews. Im actually interested to the Vitamin C serum and this youth activating drop. Its good to know some great details about this product because I also have love-hate relationship with anti-aging products.

    http://www.emoteragoddess.com

    • Jenny says:

I’ve actually tried the vitamin c serum as well and I wasn’t a fan. It felt more like a facial oil and I wasn’t a fan of the texture. It did brighten my skin a bit but not to the point where I would be willing to repurchase. This youth activating drop wins hands down when it comes to texture :)

  10. Naya says:

What a great, detailed review Jenny! I have seen this brand circulate online, but haven’t tried anything from them yet. This seems like a great deal, plus I love the fact that it’s blue (I’m a bit weird like that lol). Thanks for sharing!

    Naya // http://www.partyparrotblog.com

    • Jenny says:

Thank you Naya! I have a thing for blue colored products as well, something about the color is just so soothing :P They also have a blue calming cream which I really love!

  11. Tara says:

As someone who will need to focus on her aging skin, I thank you for this review :) I need to get on the anti-aging game soon XD; I’ve heard of Klairs, but not this product, so thanks for introducing it to me!

  12. I prefer simpler formulas as I don’t tend to break out as often. When there’s a millions ingredients in a bottle of anything, then it’s just not a good sign. I haven’t tried anything from this brand before but I’ve have seen them around! Great review Jenny! x

    Ann-Marie | http://facetocurls.com/

    • Jenny says:

Totally agree with you! This is definitely a case of more isn’t always better. Definitely recommend giving Klairs’ products a try, they’re really fantastic! Thanks for reading :)

  13. Yanrula says:

You have it! Love the way you laid everything out, it makes reading so much easier. I just love watery products, and I’m glad this one works too! I’m also so excited to see that it has EGF! I’m now very tempted to buy this and try it myself haha

    • Jenny says:

Yay, so glad to hear that! I prefer watery products as well, it just makes layering so much easier. And I definitely recommend checking this out, would love to hear your thoughts when you do!

  14. mel says:

I’ve never heard of the brand but Klairs sound like they make amazing products! I love how lightweight it is. I have troubled skin so layering can often clog my pores. Will definitely have to give this a try!

    • Jenny says:

Klairs is definitely one of my favorite brands due to their great product formulations :D Hope you’ll love this serum as much as I do if you try it out!

  15. TINA H says:

Absolutely looooveee how incredibly informative all your reviews are! Your blog is amazing babe, so glad I found your blog hehe :) And omg, I heard lots of good things about Klairs, tried their products before and they weren’t so bad :)

  17. Velvet Blush says:

This sounds great, with the ingredients you get in it. I don’t need to start using anti ageing products just yet, but I’ll bear it in mind as a possible gift for my Mum xx

    Velvet Blush

    • Jenny says:

With anti-aging I don’t think it’s ever too early to start (well, maybe not in your teens, but definitely 20’s) :) This booster makes it really easy since it’s so lightweight and not oily!

  18. Sofia says:

It sounds awesome! Might look into this stuff :D

  19. Awesome honest review. Does this brand test on animals?

  20. Mili says:

Oooh this sounds like such an interesting product! I think a lot of issues with new skin care releases is the ingredients haven’t been studied all that much. Of course, the brand usually has their own study where they ask a very small sample size of women how they *feel* their skin looks, but nothing as serious as the research behind well-researched ingredients like retinol and vitamin c. Personally, I enjoy trying new ingredients even if they haven’t been 100% vetted/ studied. Overall this sounds like a promising serum! Also not that it should matter, it’s so pretty XD

    Mili | sharmtoaster

    • Jenny says:

Thanks for reading Mili, and I agree, it’s always mildly irritating when I read those “95% of women feel like their skin improved!” statistics, because it just sounds so vague. I enjoy trying new ingredients as well, especially if there are independent studies done to show the efficacy of the ingredients, but I’d never replace proven ingredients like retinol with them. For me they’re more like an extra boost to my routine, which the Klairs works well due to its texture :D

  21. Kiranjeet says:

Fantastic informative post, it sounds really good and not mega-expensive either which is always a plus xx

  22. Rosy says:

I’m the same as you, my skin reacts better to simple ingredients as I’m really easily irritated and have super sensitive skin, that being said, I love the idea of a plethora of beneficial ingredients.

  23. What a great review babe! And this item being a 9 out of 10? Woaaa, Ive have to take a good look at it. When I first read that it felts like water and isnt noticable on the skin, my thoughts were: goaaaals! I love my Luna Oil and other night serums but they can be sticky or heavy on the skin, while I like to take a good sleep with the feeling of ‘nothing’ on my skin. Thanks for sharing your experience!

    xx- An / https://thebeauparlour.com/

    • Jenny says:

Thanks so much for reading An! I thought I enjoyed the Hylamide anti-aging serum, but this one has the same great texture and I can use it even when my skin is sensitive! :D Definitely recommend this for combo/oily skin!

  24. Emily says:

Okay, I definitely want to try this now. It sounds lovely! I always love how you lay everything out so neatly and give ratings. Makes it so easy!

  25. Sam says:

I’ve never heard of Klairs but this product does sound promising and for what is does, a very reasonable price point. I’ve been testing out a few products with the Neodermyl ingredient which has really helped me with the fine lines around my eyes and forehead x

Sam Hodgett || Beauty, Food & Lifestyle

    • Jenny says:

That’s one reason I really like Klairs, they don’t hype up their products and they’re very reasonably priced. The Neodermyl ingredient sounds interesting, and sounds like something I could use around my eye area too! Is there a particular brand you recommend? :D

  26. Sakuranko says:

    Oh very interesting product
    xx

  27. Kris says:

I need to try this product, it seems amazing!

    Have an awesome day!

  28. Alyssa says:

I totally agree with your review. I started using Klairs Midnight Blue Youth Activating Drop around the last week of June when they launched it and it has been a staple in my nighttime skincare routine :) It really suits my oily skin and I noticed my skin is smoother and my dark spots disappearing <3

    xx Alyssa // STYLE VANITY

    • Jenny says:

Oh lucky you, I wish this had the same effect on my dark spots too! Sadly mine are too stubborn and even retinol is only fading them bit by bit. But I’m happy with the smoother and healthier skin, so I can’t complain :P Thanks for reading!

  29. You had me at effortless Jenny! And your breakdown on growth factors was very helpful. I’ve been intrigued by these types of ingredients but I did question their efficacy. This serum sounds like lovely and your results certainly sound promising. Adding it to my ever growing beauty wish list now :)

    • Jenny says:

So glad you found the breakdown helpful! I always like to do my own research to see if the advertised ingredient is as awesome as the brands claim, and it’s always reassuring when there are studies that confirm the claims :) Thanks so much for reading!

  30. Marina says:

Love the sound of this! Again, so detailed Jenny, it’s unreal! x I get what you mean when you say that brands generally seem to think that antiageing = rich and heavy – what a nightmare! However, this looks and sounds really effective yet lightweight at the same time, so it really is ideal! And plus, ingredients wise, you’re also right – I have quite a few allergies I have to bare in mind so this is useful! xx

  33. Nailderella says:

Thanks for this review. I had never realized that it had such a short ingredient list! It seems not bad at all. I’ve heard so much about Klairs but haven’t tried anything yet.
And I love how you wrote your article. It’s very clear and easy to read!

    • Jenny says:

Thank you so much lovely, so glad you enjoyed the post! And yes, I was shocked when I learned how short and simple the ingredient list was too, perfect for those with sensitive skin!

  34. Camilla says:

Looks like I’m going to have to purchase this asap! It sounds awesome! And the watery texture sounds perfect for layering.

    • Jenny says:

Yes! It doesn’t feel like I’m layering an extra product at all, and it works no matter which products I have in routine. Would love to hear your thoughts on it if you get it!

  35. Sabiha says:

Great review. It’s aways great to take preventative measures sooner rather than later x

  36. Cat L. says:

Great review Jenny! Same here, love an anti-aging product (at this point in my life I really need them) and I find that my skin too reacts better to simple formulas. I am surprised by how affordable this product is. I haven’t tried anything from Klairs yet but have seen them around! I am currently using some mild retinols and an anti-aging serum from Dr. Roebuck’s but as soon as I run out will check this one out! Thank you for sharing this post Jenny!

    • Jenny says:

Thank you Cat! Most of Klairs products focus on hydration, which is important, but it’s nice to see them branching into anti-aging and doing such a great job too! Would love to hear your thoughts on this if you do try it!

  37. Violette says:

I never heard about this but it looks like a great product with great ingredients! Thank you for sharing!

  38. Samantha says:

I was looking at this on Wishtrend and was debating about getting it! I guess my thing with anti-aging products is that I’m in my early 20s so it’s hard for me to see getting stuff like that NOW, although prevention is everything. I know Klairs is a great brand too (love my kbeauty brands) so maybe I’ll just stick with this one since it seems like a really great product for such a reasonable price!

    • Jenny says:

That’s definitely my biggest struggle with anti-aging products, and I’m about to enter my early 30’s, so I totally get what you mean. But unlike retinol which can irritate the skin, I think this is a nice entryway product if you want to get an early start on anti-aging :) Thanks for reading!

  39. I feel so lost when it comes to skincare and the benefits of certain products. I really need to start doing some research. http://www.mrsqbeauty.com

  40. I have tried EGF, but it is not an ingredient I actively search for in my products. The research, though promising, is just not convincing enough for me (yet). I do not mind them in my products at all though and the Klairs Youth Activating Drops sound like something I would really enjoy in my routine.

Linda, Libra, Loca: Beauty, Baby and Backpacking

    • Jenny says:

I agree with you Anne, EGF still needs more research to prove it’s efficacy, and it doesn’t help that most brands charge an arm & leg for products containing this. Would love to hear your thoughts if you ever give this a try!

  41. Chanel says:

This seems amazing, thanks for such a thorough review!

    x,

  42. What a well written review, Jenny and I will add this into my list to purchase. Klairs is a brand that has long intrigued me and now that I am more and more drawn to AB products, I am definitely adding this into my routine sooner than later.

    • Erika says:

Hi I just want to ask does your serum smells like rubber? Because the one that I ordered from Wishtrend via Qoo10 smells like rubber and I’m kinda worried about it.

    • Jenny says:

Thank you so much Shireen! Klairs was one of the first Kbeauty brands I was introduced to, and they’ve been a favorite of mine ever since. Would love to hear your thoughts if you ever try them out!
