Thank goodness the weather has finally warmed up, I’m ready to store away my winter clothes and bring out my summer outfits! This summer I’m really into bright colors and patterns. As I’m preparing my packing list to Vegas in August, I noticed that the pieces I’m bringing/buying all fall within this trend:
- Straw Sun Hats – Forever 21
The straw adds an extra summery feel, but any wide brimmed hat will keep you cool and make for a great summery accessory to any outfit.
- Oversized sunglasses – Gucci (similar style here and here)
I’ve been in love with oversized sunglasses lately, and actually just purchased this very pair for myself :) My favorite details? The white arms – totally a summer color!
- Bright Bikinis – Bikini Lab (matching bottom here)
Summer is definitely the best time to add pops of color to your wardrobe, and nothing screams fun in the sun more than a pair of brightly colored bikinis! When going with neon colors, stick with solids or simple patterns to keep from looking too juvenile.
- Maxi dresses – H&M
A maxi dress is the perfect balance of looking put together while keeping a casual vibe. For colors, you can’t go wrong with a versatile white, a solid bright, or light floral patterns.
- Rompers – re:named (also love this one)
Rompers are one of those pieces I never really understood until I tried one on. They’re actually really flattering and comfortable! Depending on the style you choose, some can look just as put together as a dress, except you don’t have to worry about people seeing your panties ;)
- Floral dresses – ASTR
For me floral dresses is the epitome of spring/summer, especially in an a-line silhouette with light fabrics like chiffon or silk.
- Cute sandals – Salvatore Ferragamo (similar ones here)
I love flip flops for the summer because they’re so practical. But practical doesn’t have to mean ugly – you can find all sorts of cute sandals/flip flops with cute details nowadays. I’m a sucker for bows because they add a feminine touch to the overall look :)
- After Sun Lotion – Fruit of the Earth
Even if you apply sunscreen diligently and you don’t get burned, your skin could always use some TLC after a long day at the beach. As someone who does NOT like getting tanned, I also learned that applying aloe afterwards can prevent tanning!
- Sunscreen – Neutrogena
When it comes to applying sunscreen on your body, the spray is so much easier than the lotion. Bonus points of the cooling effect – most sunscreens just make me feel gross and sticky, so I’m all for one that makes me feel cool and refreshed!
What fashion pieces or beauty products are on your wishlist this summer? Whether you’ve bought them or not, I’d love to know what people’s must haves are!
