Officially a Mrs.! Wedding recap & tips
Hello lovely readers! I’ve been swamped with last minute wedding planning + my bachelorette party, but I’m back now and officially married! I don’t think I’ve slept earlier earlier than 2 am for the past 2 weeks, so that just goes to show how much stuff we had left to do. I had planned on sleeping early and doing some at-home facials the week before the wedding, so yeah, that definitely didn’t happen.
A lot of people told me I was crazy for going to Vegas a week before the wedding, but whatever. It was friggin’ awesome. The girls did an amazing job planning everything, and I was genuinely sad when it was over. Not going to go into the details, as what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas ;)
Ok, so coming back home after Vegas was not fun. Within a span of 3 days we had to:
- finalize the guest count
- figure out the seating chart, which is harder than it sounds
- put together the wedding favors
- put together the ceremony programs
- confirm the event order and follow up with all vendors
Of course let’s not forget the rehearsal, rehearsal dinner, and just general prepping and packing for the actual day. Oh and to this the fact that the store actually gave my mom the wrong dress in the wrong size, and you can imagine the chaos. But hey, it makes for a great story, right?
Despite all this craziness, the day of the wedding actually went extremely smoothly. Everyone looked great, the reception venue was absolutely stunning, and I think everyone had a great time. I know I did, except when I saw a “friend” wearing an off-white dress. Tip #1: never, ever wear a white or off-white dress to a wedding. It’s tacky. What’s even more tacky is the fact that she thinks it’s ok because it’s off-white. Needless to say we’re no longer friends.
Tip #2: Keep your marriage certificate in a safe place! We almost lost ours because when the bellhop took everything from the limo to our hotel suite, he stuffed the envelope containing the certificate in one of my bridesmaid’s bag. She had no idea, took her bag, and left us frantic on Sunday morning trying to figure out where the document went. After a bunch of phone calls, we were able to find it and stay legally married. Whew!
The last tip I have for any future brides is one that everyone gave me before my big day: don’t worry, it’s going to be ok. It’s true – no matter how much you stress, in the end everything will be beautiful and you’ll still be married. Unless you lose your marriage certificate. In that case, please refer back to tip #2.
