If there’s one type of makeup I can’t get enough of, it’s lip products. Maybe it’s because lipstick is the one product my mom would always carry around with her, but it too has become the one makeup product that I’ll always have in my purse. When I’m feeling lazy, concealer and lipstick are the 2 products I’ll bother applying. So without further ado, here are my top 5 lip products from my collection.
I don’t have a huge makeup collection, but lippies make up at least 40% of the total, which is pretty substantial. I can’t help that companies keep coming out the gorgeous new colors and formulas! Despite the number of lip products I own, I only find myself using a couple of them consistently.
Dior Creme de Rose Lip Balm – $27.00
Are you surprised this one made the list? Seriously, I still can’t get over how soft this makes my lips, and it’s the only product that can heal any chapping and flakiness overnight. No matter how bad my lips are the night before, I always wake up with them feeling soft and moisturized. It’s expensive, but a little goes a long way. Bonus points for the lovely scent and the pretty packaging!
Khroma Beauty Honey Stick Lipgloss (wild honey) – $8.99
I fell in love with this the first time I tried it, and now that the weird cat pee smell is gone, I think I’m in love with it even more. You have no idea how conflicted this gloss makes me feel: I absolutely can’t stand the Kardashians, but golly they made one heck of a lip gloss. The color is the perfect coral without being too orange, and it adds just the right amount of shine and moisture, without the goopiness. Seriously, love this, hate the Kardashians.
L’Oreal Color Riche Lipstick – $5.99
I listed this as my favorite lipstick in my Liebster Award answers since the above 2 aren’t lipsticks. The texture for this is absolutely divine – buttery soft and glides on smoothly even over chapped lips. What really makes this a winner though is the wide range of colors it comes in and its affordability. If I didn’t already have so many lippies I’d definitely add more of these to my collection. I do love the color that I currently have, which is a MLBB peach.
L’Oreal Colour Riche Caresse Wet Shine Stain (Rose On and On) – $9.99
I don’t know why but for the longest time I could not find a nice pink lip color. I decided to try this after hearing how it compared to the YSL glossy stains, and omg, my perfect pink!! On initial application this gives a lovely shine, but after a while the shine is gone and my lips are left with a pink tint. I found the staying power of this quite good, and the color was buildable without being overwhelming.
em Lip Gallery Sheer Lipstick (violaceous) – $15.00
I got this as part of my ipsy Glam Bag and I instantly fell in love. The color did scare me a bit in the tube, but because it’s sheer, it ended up being a nice mauve on my lips. The packaging is really chic, and I really like how it glides over my lips and leaves it feeling hydrated. I usually don’t wear mauve/purple toned lipsticks because I’m worried it’ll accentuate my yellow undertones, but this turned out pretty flattering. This is my go-to when I want a darker color on the lips.
Honorable Mention: YSL ROUGE VOLUPTÉ Lipstick (#30 faubourg peach) – $35.00
Seriously, how gorgeous is the packaging? It applies like a dream too – smooth and rich in color. My gripe with this is that unless your lips are flawless, it will look like crap on your lips. It ruthlessly shows any flaws your lip has, as if it’s saying that your lips aren’t good enough for it. On the days that my lips are in tip-top condition though, this one is a total win.
The above products are just the ones I reach for the most, but there are plenty of other lippies I enjoy using. If I listed them all, the post would end up being my 17 favorite lip products, and that just sounds silly doesn’t it? Hope you enjoyed the post, and if you have any favorite lip products, please share them in the comments!
