Unless you have a super dry scalp, I think a clarifying/deep cleansing shampoo is soemthing that every girl needs in their shower. If we deep clean our skin with exfoliants and masks, shouldn’t we treat our scalp with the same TLC? Luckily you don’t have to break your piggybank as Dessange Paris now offers a line of products just for this purpose.
Dessange Paris is a haircare line developed by the Dessange Salon on Champs-Elysees in Paris and sold exclusively in Target stores. Yay for salon quality products, and another yay for affordable prices! Unfortunately, I have mixed feelings about the line – like the shampoo, but the pre-shampoo mask, not so much. So let’s start with what I like first:
The Dessange Paris Purifying Clay Balancing Shampoo is formulated for oily scalp and dry ends, so for those with dry scalp like me, this makes a great weekly deep cleaning shampoo. It contains kaolin clay to help deep clean your scalp, and has a nice fresh smell and a great lather. It does contain SLS, so I definitely wouldn’t recommend this as your daily shampoo. But as a weekly treatment, it does a pretty good job. My roots are nice and fluffy but my ends are not dried out.
The Dessange Paris Purifying Clay Pre-Shampoo Mask seemed like it would be incredible. I love my Borghese Fango Mud Mask, so it’s about time someone made an equivalent for your scalp! Again the key ingredient here is kaolin clay, which has detoxifying and deep cleaning capabilities. Sounds great right? Here’s the problem – this mask is extremely difficult to wash out of your hair! Twice I’ve tried it and both times I was left with bright green residue in my scalp despite my best efforts to wash it out. Maybe if I had a mirror in my shower this wouldn’t be a problem, but I don’t, so bye bye mask, you will not be missed.
Dessange Paris Purifying Clay Balancing Shampoo
For $9.99 a bottle, the Dessange Paris Purifying Clay Balancing Shampoo is a nice clarifying treatment that I will continue to use each week. I like it more than the Pantene Weekly Deep Treatment, and would recommend it for those looking for an affordable option. It can be purchase online or in all Target stores.
