5 apps you need on your phone right now
As a geek, I get just as excited when I discover a new app for my phone as when I score a good deal shopping. Today, I’d like to share with you 5 apps that I’ve been loving lately, and that I think you need on your phone, right now.
Focus Now – free
If you’re easily distracted by your phone (like me), this app is a must have. It allows you to set a timer on your phone, during which you are to focus on your other tasks and not use your phone. If you succeed, a tomatoe garden grows and gets added to your virtual farm in the app. You can set this timer as many times as you wish, and the more you use it, the more tomatoes you get! If you use your phone before the countdown ends, your tomatoe dies and you actually see the dead tomatoes on your farm :(
Timers start at 25 minutes but can be increased to as long as you wish. For me this is how I concentrate at work, otherwise I’d be on my phone, using these other apps below :P
ShopStyle – free
If you love shopping, you need this app. Rather than downloading every retailers’ apps, ShopStyle allows me to shop hundreds of different retailers at once, filtering items by size, color, price, and brand. I love using this to create a wishlist of items I want to buy – so much easier than visiting every retailer’s site individually!
I can also create sale alerts right in the app, so I’ll always be on top of when my wishlist items go on sale. Furthermore, if the retailer as any coupons, Shopstyle will let you know as soon as you click on the retailer link! For the sake of my wallet though, I try not to spend too much time in this app, but seriously this can be addicting!
Skrwt – $1.99
I usually don’t like paying for apps, but this is a must-have for serious photo-editing. Other photo editors allow you to adjust brightness, contrast, all that standard stuff, but Skrwt gives you lens correction capabilities – Godsent if you use any adapters for your phone camera or transfer camera photos directly to your phone (aka, me).
The lens correction feature alone is worth the $1.99 for me, but Skrwt also has some other unique features (auto composition, leveling, etc) that will help your photos go from good to wow.
WordPress – free
For the longest time I didn’t download the WordPress app because it sucked. But the UI and functionality have really improved recently. I can now respond to comments, check my blog stats, make basic setting changes, and update posts, all on the go.
For the app to fully sync with your blog you do need to connect it to a WordPress.com account, which can be easily done using the Jetpack plugin. The app also has a reader feature, which allows you to subscribe to other WordPress blogs.
Crowdfire – free
I use this to manage my Twitter and Instagram – 2 social media accounts I use the most. I love that I can know instantly who unfollowed me (and yes I will unfollow back!), who’s been inactive for a while, and all sorts of interesting stats.
Another feature I really love is the ability to schedule your Instagram posts. Yes, Crowdfire will post to your Instagram at the time that your followers are most active, guaranteeing to get you the most likes possible. And best of all, this is free and super easy to use!
Hope you found this post helpful, and if you’ve used any of these apps, or have cool apps you recommend, please share them in the comments below! Have a great week!
