Where did March and April go?

May 4, 2013• 20 Comments

In a nutshell: moving. Well technically everything was moved over in March, but then came the unpacking and the decorating and more unpacking, and even now we’re still not done :(

My bed & night stand - the only part of the home that's close to being done

My bed & night stand – the only part of the home that’s close to being done

The other parts of the home are still messy – we have random boxes and items lying around because we’d do some work on one room, move to another the next weekend, and then work on another room the third week. Talk about systematic huh -_-

I also celebrated my 25th birthday at the end of March, though there actually wasn’t much of a celebration since we were so busy with the move! It was great being able to spend it with my parents though, since I now only get to see them once a year :) Oh and I got this from my fiance <3

Louis Vuitton Alma BB - it comes with a shoulder strap so you can wear it 3 ways!

This little darling is my first luxury brand[1. versus designer brands like Coach, etc] purse, and even now I’m still hesitant to carry it because I’m deathly scared of it getting any scratches D: But I do love the red – it’ll be perfect for the spring/summer season :D

Now for darling number 2, which was a lot less expensive than the LV, but I adore it just as much:

Seriously, how did I not purchase this sooner?? I’ve always loved the blowdry results I get at hair salons, but I cannot use a blowdryer AND brush together for my life. This is essentially a blowdryer + brush in one, so I can dry my hair AND get volume + curls all in less than 20 minutes :D It’s pretty amazing:

No curling iron involved! And no face because today was a no-makeup day :P

So those are the highlights of my life for the past 2 months! Hopefully I’ll have more time to relax and blog in the coming months – this 30+ days MIA was a bit obscene.

Good luck with all of that unpacking! You know what’s awful? We’ve been in our house for 3 years, and we still have unpacked boxes, lol. We’re so lazy when it comes to unpacking :(

I love the look of your bed and night stand in that photo. I especially like your lamp!

Happy Birthday! It looks like you got some nice gifts! I like the vibrant color of the purse, and your hair looks great :) I hope all of your house stuff is going well!

    1. Thank you! The lamp was from Marshall’s for around $40 each – they have some great home decor items there sometimes.

Glad to hear I’m not alone when it comes to slowly unpacking!

Those curls are so damn cute! Holy crap… I need to get this styler, too. Because I am awfullll at trying to curl my hair with a standard brush + curler. Just terrible, lol.

Congratulations on your move! Your bedside looks cozy. Can’t wait to see the rest. :)

    1. Thank you! I highly recommend the styler – it’s incredibly easy to use, and even my friends were wondering how I manage to wake up with nice looking hair (aka, 2nd day blowdry hair)!

Ugh, I hate moving! Hope things settle soon for you guys! Love that headboard, by the way, I’m trying to convince Andrew to give up our plain wrought iron one for a padded headboard. Looks so comfy! Also love the color of the Alma BB, looks so much better than the photos I’ve seen on their site. I’ve been eyeballing the Artsy MM, but with two young kids I’d probably never use it either!

    1. The padded headboard isn’t as comfy as it looks, though it does beat a non-padded one I suppose. And it hurts less when you accidentally bang your head, which I have a habit of doing, lol

Omg your bed and nightstand is so beautiful!
How nice of your finance! The red does look absolutely amazing. Happy belated Birthday!

    1. Thank you! Still working on styling my bed and nightstand, but it’s coming along :)

  5. Congratulations on the LV Alma! That’s the next bag I’m hoping to cross of my list! The color is absolutely gorgeous Jenny <3 Love love your nightstand as well :) And happy belated birthday! Glad to see you got the GFC running again!

    1. Thank you! I remember when I first saw the Alma vernis, I thought “OMGIWANTTHATBAG”, haha.

That bag is so pretty!! I don’t own any designer bags. Don’t want to part with so much money ;(

Well done on the move! Finally you can rest and relax in your new place :) Looks very homely! Will be dreaming of my own place.

    1. Haha, I don’t know about resting and relaxing – I still have a lot of organizing and cleaning to do D:

      1. ???• Amy says:

Hahaha! I’m sure it’s a part-time job in itself to keep everything clean and organized but if it becomes routine it shouldn’t take up a lot of time and effort ^^ You’ve done really well so far!

    Happy belated Birthday!
It took us months after the move to get our apartment the way it is now. Buy new stuff, decorate, kick some of the old stuff out… but I think it’s nice that it takes longer, then you can always buy something :)

    1. Thank you! I agree, I do enjoy being able to take my time to find the perfect pieces for my home :)

  8. Liv says:

Happy very belated birthday! I sure hope your fiance had a better time shopping for that bag than I did for my aunt. (Long story, no need to tell really.)

Your bed and nightstand look so lovely. I am loving the color and design of that pillow. As for unpacking, I’ve lived in my house for two years now and there are unopened boxes. There are some boxes that have been shut for many years because we move about once every three or four years.

If I had long hair I’d love an iron like that, but my hair is stubborn and probably resistant.

Have fun unpacking the rest of your things!

    1. Thank you! My hair is pretty resistant too, but I find that blowdrying it while its damp helps it to take and hold its final shape better.

  9. Mija says:

I used a brush like that and my hair got stuck ;o;!! Is this one safe?

    1. There have been a few times when the brus seemed to rotate on its own and my hair would get stuck, but then I’d press the other button to rotate the brush in the opposite direction and my hair is fine :)

  10. Amanda says:

Happy super belated! :) Your gift looks beautiful!

I think the systematic approach to working on your house works pretty well. I would do the same thing too! It’s so much easier to get through one first without having to worry about what you’re working on in the other one.

You make me want to get that blow-drying curling brush, too! Your hair came out beautiful ^-^ I usually make my hair like that by clipping it up, but it gets so annoying to have to sleep on clips. I didn’t know they made something like that, actually. I guess I wasn’t looking hard enough, haha.
