Recently I received my Neutrogena makeup samples from BzzAgent: nourishing eyeliner in Cosmic Black, healthy skin brightening eye perfector in Buff, and revitalizing lip balm in Healthy Blush, Petal Glow, and Sunny Berry. Without further ado, here are my reviews.

Neutrogena Nourishing Eyeliner

Clockwise from top: full product, eyeliner tip, smudger/sharpener, swatch

Packaging
The packaging is absolutely brilliant! One end you have the eyeliner, which you twist to get more, and the other end, you have a smudger + sharpener!  I can’t tell you how many times I bring my pencil liners with me on vacations but can’t apply them because they’re too dull and I left my sharpener at home.

Product
The eyeliner itself is very average. It’s very creamy and applies nicely, though it may be problematic for people with oily lids. I do like how thin the liner itself is, so you could potentially use it for the water line. However, I find that it smudges on me too easily and doesn’t last very long :(

Price
For USD$7.99, I think there are better eyeliners available. I’m personally a fan of Milani’s Liquif-Eye pencil liners :)

Overall
The only thing that really stands out to me is the packaging. But other than that, it’s a very average product, and I won’t be purchasing it in the future.

Neutrogena Revitalizing Lip Balm

swatches from left to right: healthy blush, petal glow, sunny berry

Packaging
Wow, these have the cheapest looking packaging I’ve ever seen. The labels are all stuck on and using them for a while and keeping them in my purse, the edges of the stickers are beginning to peel -_- The black plastic also feels very flimsy, and I’m not a fan of the shape.

Color
These come in 6 shades, all which are very wearable and universally flattering. It leaves a tint that is comparable to Revlon Lip Butters, and it also adds a hint of dewiness to my lips. The 3 colors which I received are beautiful, with my favorites being healthy blush and sunny berry. Took off 1 star because I wish there were more colors :(

Moisturization
For a tinted lip balm, it does a decent job of moisturizing my lips. I find that the moisture lasts around 2 hours, which is similar to my Revlon Lip Butters. On the other hand, Maybelline Baby Lips does a much better job of moisturizing in my opinion. I also didn’t notice any long term positive effects on my lips. However, the SPF 20 makes it stand out from its competitors.

Price
At USD$8.99, it’s definitely not the cheapest lip balm around. The Revlon Lip Butters cost the same but come with more colors and better packaging.

Overall
It’s not a bad product, but at that price point I expect better packaging. Overall it’s nothing amazing. I might purchase these if I find them on sale or if they come out with more colors.

Neutrogena Healthy Skin Brightening Eye Perfector

notice the reduction in darkness and puffiness in the after photo

Packaging
It’s sleek and well made, no cheap plastic or flimsy labels. It has a flow-through brush applicator, which I actually don’t like since I find the brush too harsh on my eye area. Instead I apply the product on my ring finger first, and then apply to my eyes in light, dabbing motion.

Color
This comes in 4 shades, which can be tricky if your skintone falls between shades. But what I love is that the colors are very neutral – not too warm or too cool, which has been a problem with some other concealers. The color Buff is a perfect fit for my NW20/25 skin :)

Coverage
Flawless coverage :D I love how easy to blend the formula is, and it doesn’t crease or flake! It reminds me a bit of the Healthy Skin foundation. It takes only a little bit of product to cover each undereye circle, and it not only covers, but brightens as well. My boyfriend noticed an immediate difference when I first applied this!

Price
At USD$13.99, this is definitely on the expensive side for drugstore concealer. Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Dark Circles Eraser is only $9.99, though I think there is more product inside the Neutrogena one. It also comes with SPF 25, which is nice.

Overall
This product was easily the winner and favorite of everything I received. I find myself applying this almost everyday – even when I don’t wear makeup – just because it makes me look so much more awake and refreshed! I will definitely be purchasing this in the future :D

I hope you found this review helpful, and I’d love to hear your opinions if you’ve tried any of these, or any of Neutrogena’s products :D

I like your review on Neutrogena. I am glad that you did it on the eyeliner, too, since that was one product, I was thinking of getting. I have to say that finding the right product is hard for me. I like eyelines that stay all day. The Almay eyeliner I got isn’t too bad. Still runs towards the end of the day, but at least it won’t affect my eyes too much.

I tried the lip balm. It was too expensive for me. I purchased the Maybelline one, but I read somewhere that they test their products on animals. I am totally against that, so I returned it. Lip balm is something hard for me to find since I have such dark red lips.

Your review was amazing. If you get a chance, you should try the foundations they have. Neutrogena has some good foundations. I have the powder to cream and the powder foundations, and both keep my face moist and covered quite nicely.

I was actually considering reviewing the Healthy Skin foundation (purchased on my own), but I got lazy :P
You might want to try Revlon Lip Butters, which has a lot more shades, so maybe you’ll be able to find something that works with your lips’ natural shade :)

  2. Meaghan says:

    Thank you! It was really scary on the freeway. ;~;
Thanks! :D I hope so too, it’s my last resort!

I have the Neutrogena Brightening Eye Perfecter too! Are the products full sized from BzzAgent?

I’ve actually never seen or heard about their lip balms & eyeliner until today lol. I might want to purchase a light shade of lip balm for myself one day. :) I have too many eyeliners! Thanks for the review. :D

    1. Jenny says:

Yes, all the products BzzAgent sends are full-sized :)

  3. Justin says:

I’m just stopping by to say hello! It’s been a while since I last visited, and your site looks great. As a guy, this post doesn’t really appeal to me that much lol, so I’ll be sure to give a better comment on your next post haha. are those your lips and eyes?

    1. Jenny says:

Hello to you too! It’s been a while :D And yes, those are my lips and eyes, haha

  4. Michelle says:

I want to try out the lip balm – will be great seeing as it is winter here. Neutrogena is a great brand that I trust a lot. :) The eye perfecter looks like it works wonders :) great review!

  5. nyuu says:

I can definitely use that eye pen! I find that my eye area is really dry for some odd reason though. Hopefully this one is moisturizing, too. Very good review!

  6. WYONA says:

I love the lip balm, they have the colors in them. Some lip balm won’t leave any color on my lips so yeah. And the eye brightening is so effective :) Might try to get one soon! Thanks for the review Jenny, by the way I linked you already on my site. :)

  7. Liv says:

I used to have one of those twisting eyeliners. But then sadly I lost it before even using it. I dislike pencil liners because they’re so not modern, haha. Makeup should be convenient just like modern life is! Is that eyeliner waterproof? That might have something to do with the smudging I think? I am waiting for the waterproof eyeliner my aunt is going to bring for me, because the last time I wore regular eyeliner I turned into a panda.

I think I should invest in the healthy skin brightening eye perfector. I have really bad wrinkles under my eyes from being on the computer too many hours a day, not that it was my choice for the past few months. I can see a good difference in your pictures. But why is your eye so red, if you don’t mind me asking? I noticed that first. =( Maybe should rest your eyes?

    1. Jenny says:

I like pencil liners simply because they’re the easiest to apply! The Neutrogena eyeliner isn’t waterproof, so I guess that could be a reason why it smudges to easily, thanks for pointing that out!

My eyes were red because I used my facial scrub in the morning, and when I was washing some of the particles got in my eye :(

  8. Oh how I hate when I purchase beauty products that end up being complete rubbish! Thankfully, though, that hasn’t happened in awhile, and y’know why …? Because I read blog entries like this one and learn exactly what to look for! *^^* These kinda posts are so helpful.

    I’m dying to try out that eye brightener, now! It makes your under eyes appear near perfect, which is super exciting. >w<;

  9. Erica says:

Wow I’m surprised you like Milani more than the Neutrogena brand!  Miliani seems like it would be trash in comparison.  I’m not a big makeup person though, so my opinion is from no experience at all.

I want to thank you for dropping by my site and leaving some kind words on my most recent entry.  It means much to me.  xoxo.

    1. Jenny says:

Milani, like Wet & Wild, is one of those brands that often gets overlooked at first, but they carry some great products. For me brand really isn’t the key thing I look for – if they carry a good product, I’m buying it!

  10. Gail says:

I think I need the eye brightener more than anything else. :) <3

  11. Tiara Lynn says:

I always used eyeliner and lip gloss all the time but I can barely keep it on. I try different eye liner but it burns my eye. Out of all the products I would consider buying the skin brightening one.

    1. Jenny says:

Finding eye liner that stays has been a tricky process for me as well. I find that gel liner in general tend to have better staying power, so maybe you could look into those?

  12. alex says:

hheh i used to use that eyeliner when i FIRST started using eyeliner 4 years ago! i agree, the packaging is very convenient but i felt it hard to apply. i felt like i was tugging on my skin T_T

glad you liked something out of the products! girl, you needa use some eyedrops!!! My eyes are getting teary from looking at your red eyes @_@

  13. Cat says:

Ooh, good to know about the eyeliner and lip balm. I use Neutrogena’s foundation, so I was wondering if I should try their other products. I do see a difference in the eyes photos! I always feel like the area below my eyes look too puffy in photos, so I should give the eye perfector a try.
